Vocational Training Programs
The poverty cycle is perpetuated when poorer communities lack training, and in turn, they have limited earning potential. This cycle leads to malnutrition and social problems.
HUMANITY FIRST has established several training institutions in Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Benin, Ghana, and Gambia. These centers provide basic IT skills and hardware training for which specialists are sent from Canada. These institutions have become successful as several students qualifying from them have already found employment.
Other training programs have been designed specifically for women, which include design and tailoring of garments. On completion of the program the trainee is provided with a complementary sewing machine to help facilitate an earning potential.
